    Having your basement remodeled can give you the added space you need, increase your home enjoyment, and raise your property value. Check out one of our recent basement remodeling projects. This one included finishing out a basement and separating the inside laundry and utility rooms. Before starting the project, our clients told us how noisy the basement was whenever they went to do the laundry. So making the space more usable and quieter was our top priority.

    For this project, besides finishing-out the main area in the basement, we built two separate rooms. One room was for the washer, dryer, and large sink, while the other was for a utility room. Having these rooms separate kept the laundry room quieter from the noisy furnace and pumps.

    Here are the steps we took:

    Laundry Room Renovation

    • New framing in the laundry room for walls and ceiling.
    • Enclosed the ductwork and soffit.
    • HVAC modification, which included moving the injector pump to the utility room.
    • Extra storage space was created under the staircase with a custom door.
    • In case of any future leaks, we added a drain in the floor.
    • Every laundry room needs a big sink, and we added a deep stainless-steel sink.
    • We laid modern, slick marble tiles on the laundry room floor.
    • New granite baseboards that match the flooring were installed.
    • The entire room got a high-quality coat of paint.

     

    Utility Room Renovation

    • We added new framing, electrical, rough-in plumbing, and lighting.
    • Put up new drywall and painted the room including the ductwork.
    • Installed new wood baseboards and painted them white.
    • The utility room housed the furnace, sump, and injector pumps separate from the laundry room.
    • We added a new room door to keep the utility room noise inside.
    • In the utility room, we dug a trench for the injector pump to save space.
    • Having the pump in the trench made the room much quieter.
    • Added a small closet in the corner with a new door so the customers can access their crawl space and have additional storage.

    Basement Renovation

    With the laundry and utility room now separate, we just needed to add a few finishing touches to the basement’s central area. These included:

    • Painting the walls and baseboards, a beautiful bright white.
    • And installing durable vinyl Pergo-style flooring.
